By downloading, installing, or using the Wasl application, these terms automatically apply to you. Please read them carefully before using the app.
1. License and Usage
Developer Ahmad Aldarwish grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Wasl app on compatible devices, including Android smartphones and Wear OS smartwatches.
- You are not permitted to copy, decompile, reverse-engineer, or attempt to extract the source code of the app.
- You are not permitted to modify trademarks, branding, or app assets without prior written consent.
2. User Accounts & Security
- Creating an account is optional.
- If you create an account (via Email or Google Sign-In), you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
- You can delete your account and associated cloud data at any time through Settings > Account > Delete Account.
3. Timing Accuracy & Calculations (Disclaimer)
Wasl calculates prayer times and Hijri calendar dates based on your location coordinates using global calculation standards and recognized regional methods (e.g., Umm Al-Qura, Muslim World League, Egyptian General Authority, Diyanet, Moroccan Ministry, Iraqi Sunni/Shia methods):
- Slight variations may occur due to geographical features, atmospheric conditions, or local jurisprudential conventions.
- You agree that verifying prayer times with local religious authorities is your personal responsibility. The developer assumes no liability for timing discrepancies or missed prayers.
4. Zakat Calculator (Disclaimer)
Wasl includes a Zakat Calculator to assist in estimating Zakat obligations based on your manual financial entries (cash, gold, silver, investments, or business assets):
- Calculations are provided for informational and estimation guidance only.
- Zakat rules and Nisab thresholds vary by currency exchange rates, precious metal valuations, and Islamic jurisprudence.
- You are responsible for verifying values with qualified Islamic scholars or local religious authorities. The developer assumes no liability for financial decisions or calculation discrepancies.
5. Nearby Mosques, Places & Community Suggestions
Wasl provides tools to locate nearby mosques and community prayer areas:
- Locations and navigation routes are provided for convenience and reference.
- When using the "Suggest a Mosque / Place" feature, you agree to submit truthful, accurate, and appropriate information.
- The developer reserves the right to review, edit, publish, or reject any mosque or place suggestions submitted through the app.
6. Qibla Compass & Sensor Calibration
The Qibla direction feature relies on device GPS coordinates and hardware sensors (magnetometer and accelerometer):
- Accuracy depends on hardware quality and proper sensor calibration (such as performing a figure-8 motion).
- Magnetic interference from surrounding metal objects or electronic devices may affect readings.
7. Smart Cast, Local Web Server & Local Network
The Smart Cast feature allows streaming Adhan media to DLNA/UPnP or Chromecast devices on your local network:
- The app runs a temporary local HTTP server on your device to stream selected audio/video files to cast targets.
- An optional Wake-on-LAN (WOL) feature sends standard magic network packets to wake compatible smart TVs on your local network.
- Use of local network streaming is at your discretion; the developer is not responsible for local Wi-Fi network configurations or third-party hardware incompatibilities.
8. Focus Mode & App Blocker
Focus Mode uses Android Usage Access and System Overlay permissions to temporarily block selected apps during prayer times:
- Enabling Focus Mode is entirely optional.
- You remain responsible for selecting which applications to block and for managing emergency contact exceptions on your device.
9. Cloud Backup & Multi-Device Synchronization
Wasl offers optional Cloud Backup and Realtime Sync via Firebase Firestore and standard Android Backup Service:
- Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the security of your logged-in Google or Email account.
- Data Availability: While cloud backup facilitates data recovery across devices, the developer does not guarantee uninterrupted service or immunity against data loss during network interruptions.
10. Wear OS Companion, Widgets, Tiles & Cross-Platform Features
Wasl includes a Wear OS companion app, Home Screen/Lock Screen Widgets (including Samsung One UI ServiceBox and Now Bar integrations), and Quick Settings Tiles:
- Data synchronization between your phone and Wear OS watch utilizes the Google Wearable Data Layer API.
- Widgets and Tiles rely on background Android system execution to stay updated.
11. Intellectual Property & Embedded Media
All proprietary rights in the Wasl application belong exclusively to developer Ahmad Aldarwish. Embedded Quranic texts, Hadith collections, Islamic books (Encyclopedia PDFs), and audio recitations are included for non-profit, religious, and educational purposes under fair use. All third-party trademarks belong to their respective owners.
12. Voluntary Support & Contributions
Wasl offers an optional "Support the Project" feature via Google Play In-App Purchases:
- Contributions are purely voluntary and support server maintenance, API costs, and ongoing development.
- Contributions do not place core app features behind a paywall or grant commercial privileges.
- Refunds are handled according to standard Google Play Store refund policies.
